Get to know Glen Hockley’s stance on city services. Glen believes the City of White Plains must minimize the tax burden on its citizens while not jeopardizing vital services or the safety of its people. In the following 30 second video, Glen states that city services and public safety are things residents should be able to count on. Open Letter to Neighborhood Associations and Residents

March 27, 2011

Dear Community Leaders and Residents,

Many of you know me as a Former Councilman and resident of the City, although a good number of you have met me personally during my ‘walk-abouts’, an activity I have engaged in for years in which I walk the neighborhoods and talk with residents about their concerns and vision for the future. I am an independent candidate in this Mayoral election to be held on Thursday March 31, and as an Independent candidate I am allied with the people, concerned only for your interest and the interest of our City. I am not directed or controlled by any political party, have neither allegiance nor obligation to anyone or anything except YOU.

As a longtime advocate for neighborhoods and their residents, I am writing you now to ask for your support in my candidacy for Mayor.

I believe every citizen of this City deserves the same services and scale of public safety services regardless of location, size, or socioeconomic status. One of most valuable qualities of our City is in its diversity of culture and what these differences offer to make us a City full of vibrancy and life.

I believe the City Government must support residents in maintaining quality of life whether this includes advocating and partnering with City officials in maintaining neighborhood infrastructure, providing a stronger police presence so that residents are safe and secure, or assuring that your neighborhood has representation on the Council for advocacy.

For example, many of you may know or be familiar with my dedication to serving neighborhoods which are under the Affordable Housing umbrella – I have brought hundreds of thousands of dollars in the donation of services and materials to upgrade buildings and their surroundings, at no cost to taxpayers. These renovations improved the quality of life for residents who are each entitled to safe and clean home. I am also opposed to FASNY and in fact I am the first candidate in this race to come out and take that stand.

If you ask members of your community to review my website (www.hockleyformayor.com ), you will find more about my ideas and vision for the future of White Plains. I intend to support fiscal responsibility without cutting city services or critical public safety. I intend to make the City more consumer friendly by changing parking ordinances and this includes overnight downtown parking for residents.

I am happy to discuss my ideas and listen to yours, or answer any questions you may have both prior to the election and afterward – committing to an accessibility which will continue during my term as Mayor. This is one promise I am comfortable making as I historically I have maintained this open door policy. If you would like to reach me please call 572-7000.

Please post this letter as it is to all of my constituents and provides information about my background, why I’m running for Mayor, and my vision for our future, all of us.

Sincerely,

Glen Hockley’s “People Over Politics” Fundraisers’ Success

Independent Mayoral Candidacy Gaining Momentum

March 17, 2011, WHITE PLAINS, New York  --  Glen Hockley’s second fundraiser event, held last night at 42 The Restaurant in the Ritz Carlton Towers, gave the mayoral candidate another venue for championing his action plans to raise White Plains to greater financial heights and instill more comfort and security in its neighborhoods.

Acknowledging the uniqueness and singular charm of each neighborhood, Hockley stressed the importance of maintaining neighborhoods’ characters.  “I’ve been walking these neighborhoods for at least the last ten years and I know the particular concerns in every area.  As Mayor, I will take these concerns – the unavailability of parking space, overcrowded housing, traffic violations – all the issues residents have shared with me, and make them my priority,” Hockley said.   “My goal – and my promise – is to improve our quality of life while infusing our government with the efficiency we need to lower the tax burden on our citizens.”

Among supporters at Hockley’s People Over Politics fundraisers were Former Congressman Joseph DioGuardi, Former Mayors Joseph Delfino of White Plains and Ernie Davis of Mount Vernon, and Former White Plains Councilmember, Arnie Bernstein.  “I am grateful for the confidence and support of everyone,” Hockley said.  “I will never lower the flag of the people.  I’ve come this far because of them and I will carry their voice to City Hall.”
